Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

Many of the adults I work with are capable and outwardly functioning. Life may look stable, yet privately there can be anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties or a sense that something does not feel quite right.

What brings you to therapy may not be entirely new, but something may have shifted—in your circumstances, your relationships, how you feel about yourself or simply in your readiness to give it some attention. Understanding why therapy feels important now can be a useful place for us to begin.

Therapy with me is not based around a fixed programme or set of exercises. We begin with what has brought you to therapy and try to understand what is happening in your life, your relationships and how you experience yourself.

The aim is to develop a relationship in which you can speak openly and be curious about yourself without having to worry about how you may be judged for what you say. As we work together, we may begin to notice familiar ways of relating to other people that also appear between us. Rather than deciding whether these are good or bad, we can try to understand how they developed, the purpose they may serve and what they mean for you now.

This way of working is often described as psychodynamic and relational. It pays attention to how past and present experiences, relationships and what happens between us can help us understand you more fully.
Sessions are held weekly, usually at the same time each week, providing a consistent and protected space in which the work can develop over time.

I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist (MBACP) with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Foundation Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling, awarded with distinction.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in professional environments. This informs my understanding of the emotional and psychological meaning of performance, pressure, responsibility and identity, without assuming any particular background.

I offer weekly sessions for adults, both in person and online. Appointment times are discussed on enquiry, with some flexibility depending on room availability.

A brief introductory conversation is available if you would like to consider whether this way of working feels appropriate.
